On 1st March, our CEO, Tim Doughty, will be running the Paris half marathon for two charities that are close to him. He is raising money for both Alzheimer’s and the British Heart Foundation.

Tim has said “I am very much looking forward to the challenge in Paris to prove to myself I can complete a half marathon. However, the real reason I am doing this is to raise awareness and money for two charities that have affected both my Grandfathers and one Grandmother. I aim to raise £1000.”

If any of these charities resonate with you and you would like to donate to make a difference, then please do so by visiting Tim’s fundraising page here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/TimDoughty.

We will keep you up to date on how Tim gets on later in March.

Good luck Tim, the entire Cricket Vision family is rooting for you!

It is with great pleasure to announce that we have partnered with Hurley CC for the first time to provide an Easter camp for those aged between 7-14.

Hurley Cricket Club was founded in 1900 and boasts one of the most attractive and well maintained grounds in Berkshire and the surrounding counties. Hurley is a friendly club, close to Maidenhead, Marlow and Henley with an emphasis on making the learning of cricket enjoyable and safe. Cricket Vision prides itself on ensuring all attendees to their sessions have lots of fun but in a safe environment, therefore, I believe this partnership will be a great success in the years to come. We very much look forward to working with Hurley CC to encourage more children to be more active and take up this wonderful game of cricket.

Rewarding Our Coaches

As I am sure a lot of you know that our coaches work very hard to ensure everyone at our sessions, whether it be a camp, club or private session, has fun in a safe environment. We are always keen to give back to our coaches and therefore going forward we will be treating those coaches who have gone above and beyond. Therefore, if you have a session with our coaches and feel they have done a great job then please do let us know so we can reward them in the right way!

The first of these treats happened earlier this year. Tim Doughty, our co-founder, took Henry Moore, one of our coaches to Lords for the England Vs Ireland game in the sweltering heat. They were fortunate enough to witness England’s Jack Leach score a spectacular 92 before unfortunately getting out just before achieving the feat of being the 6th ever night-watchman to score a test hundred!

After the game they were lucky enough to meet Charlotte Edwards CBE, the ex-England Captain who successfully lead the team to win the ashes and World Cup in both 20/20 and one day formats.

Henry said: “It was a great day at the test match with Tim. I think some of our cricketers could’ve done better than the England team being bowled out for 85 in the first innings!”

Tim commented on the day: “It was a pleasure to take Henry to the game and reward him for all the hard work he has put in to his coaching. It was a nice bonus to meet Charlotte Edwards too! I look forward to treating more of our coaches in the years to come”.

We look forward to sharing more stories like this in the future!

With the cricket season coming to an end we have been busy collecting unused bats in order to refurbish them and sell at affordable prices next year. We are delighted to say that we have had a fantastic donation of 16 bats from a family in Sussex as well as a variety of individual donations around London. Our expert bat refurbisher, Angus Spratling, will be busy over the next few months turning these bats into something worth having!

Here at Cricket Vision, we believe that people should not have a barrier to get into the sport and therefore this is our first step to make cricket more affordable. Bats can be very expensive and we aim to sell all our bats for £50 or less. We would urge anyone with old bats to donate them to us so together we can help those who may not be able to afford one.

If you fancy yourself as a bit of a bat refurbisher we are always looking for volunteers to help us in this department so please do get in touch.
